THE 'LOPES WILL BE BETTER THAN LAST YEAR'S TEAM, BUT WILL IT BE ENOUGH TO OVERTAKE CANADIAN?

Well, in some sort of ways, it feels as if Abernathy just can't catch a break. Last year's team was one of the best I've seen since their 2017 squad who lost to Crawford in the 2A State Semifinals. If Abernathy could've found some points, they could've gave the Wildcats a little more of a challenge in their 19-7 loss in the 3A DII Regional Semifinals in 2018.
This season Abernathy will be a dangerous threat again, as always, and they will meet up with Canadian again in the same round of the playoffs for a chance to probably play Gunter in the 3A DII State Semifinals. Bryson Daily amassed over 2,500 total yard and 42 touchdowns in his Junior Year. Miles Keith and the DeAnda brothers also will be relied on to finish the deal this year since we all know that Abernathy will be 13-0 or 12-1 once they go up against Canadian in the playoffs.
Their toughest games of the regular season will be in week three when they host the Wellington Skyrockets; a team that will contend for a title in 2A DII, the Post Antelopes and Idalou in district play; maybe.. Depth may be an issue if someone gets hurt, but the Antelopes have a couple of surprises up their sleeve this season, and will be a major piece in the 3A DII puzzle.
