Week one is here and we are ready to rumble! There are some huge games on the horizon in week one in classes 6A-4A football this week! Here are the top games of week one in big school football for the 806!
FRENSHIP VS CORONADO
Friday, 7:00pm: People’s Bank Stadium, Wolfforth, TX

A huge game is on the way in Wolfforth when Frenship’s Tigers take on the Coronado Mustangs Friday night at 7:00pm! Coach DJ Mann takes over as the Head Coach for Coronado; stepping in for Seth Parr who brought the Mustangs from worst to first in a hurry and had a great season in 2020 as well as the number one high school player in Texas, Sawyer Roberston; who is now fighting for the starting quarterback position at Mississippi State in his freshman year!
Frenship touts one of the best offensive lines in Texas with Isaiah Kema and Karson Jones in the mix for the Tigers in 2021. Chad Pharies is also a solid quarterback along with players like Osemudiamen Olumese in the secondary and more to lead a great attack for Coach Northcutt and Frenship Nation! This game will come down to turnovers and who can cause the most turnovers in the contest. The winner of the turnover contest should win this game. Jett Carroll, Trevor Stephens, Will Boyles, Julius Maze and Kaleb Pillow will be key impact players for the Mustangs this season and these players will need to come up big on Friday if the Mustangs want to win this game!
AMARILLO VS MIDLAND LEGACY
Friday, 7:00pm Buffalo Stadium, West Texas A&M
Amarillo, TX

This game is a huge one for West Texas A&M‘s Buffalo Stadium! Amarillo has a ton of big time players on their roster like Kaden Carr, Erik Gray, and Brock Wade at the Quarterback position for Coach Dunnam’s Sandies! Legacy is loaded on both sides of the ball too and boasts players like Canyon Moses, Marcos Davila, Kam Curry, Christopher Brazzell, and more for Coach Hartman’s squad! Which quarterback will have a better performance will determine a lot in this game as well as who wins the battle in the trenches.
ESTACADO VS MIDLAND GREENWOOD
Friday, 7:00pm: Plains Capital Park
Lubbock, TX

Greenwood has had Estacado’s number the last couple of times they have played including last year’s home opener for the Rangers, in which they beat the Matadors at Grande Communications Stadium in Midland, TX. This game should be another great matchup as both teams are loaded and the Matadors led by Coach Cluley have some lofty, yet attainable goals set for the 2021 season. This game starts another tough non-district stretch for Estacado and this game will determine how the season will start off for the Matadors in their 2021 campaign.
