806 Football is almost here and we are ready to see which teams are going to surprise us and what players will become household names for the 2022 season. I looked at all the teams in the 806 and have amassed some players that we should keep an eye on as they will bust out on the football scene for 2022!
DEVORYEA BOYD: ESTACADO MATADORS
CLASS OF 2024 WR/ FS

I'm very high on Devoryea as I think he's one of the top five players in the 806 and should end up with double-digit offers on the gridiron before he graduates in 2024. But here's the deal; he can play some basketball too! Coach Blaylock and Wagner will get him prepared to really capitalize off of his potential and Boyd is great in the classroom as well. I'm not a betting man but if I was, I'd put the house on him!
TATE BEELES- FRENSHIP TIGERS
CLASS OF 2023 WIDE RECEIVER

Tate had nine touchdowns in five games before his injury last season for the Tigers so expect a huge year for Beeles at the wide receiver position. He is 6'6" and weighs 170 pounds and I haven't seen him drop a ball yet. Tate is also a FCS prospect on the hardwood; this young man is very talented and will get to choose what big school he wants to go to by the time his Senior season is up.
ARMANDO LUJAN- SUNRAY BOBCATS
CLASS OF 2025 QUARTERBACK

Lujan had a great freshman season with 31 total touchdowns and over 3,100 total yards for the Bobcats! What will he accomplish next for Sunray? I can say this with confidence: Armando has been working hard all summer to perfect his craft and his sophomore season should be a movie!
JOAQUIN SEGOVIA- VEGA LONGHORNS
CLASS OF 2024 ATH

I like this young man! Joaquin is electric with the ball in his hands! He will be relied on more this season as Vega lost a few key players, but return the majority of their starters. All he needs is a block and he can take it to the house! Let's not forget that Segovia is also on the Dave Campbell's preseason All-State team.
COREY STANCELL- FARWELL STEERS
CLASS OF 2024 TAILBACK

Corey lit it up last year with 2,154 yards and 22 scores on the ground and he is poised to put up those numbers again this fall. How far will the Steers go, and who else will help Stancell with the load are some factors that will determine just how impactful he and his team will be this season. Their district is beef jerky....I mean it's tough!!
JAXSON HOEL
CLASS OF 2024 ATH- ABERNATHY ANTELOPES

The marathon continues for the Hoel family as now that Jess has departed from the Antelopes, his little brother, Jaxson Hoel is ready to step up and take charge for Coach Wiley's team. Hoel will play both sides of the ball and will have to be game-planned for or he will torch you. Jax has a chip on his shoulder coming into this season so expect greatness from the young man and the Abernathy 'Lopes!
MALAKHI BRISCO- IDALOU WILDCATS
CLASS OF 2023 TB/CB

Malakhi.... Brisco... Remember that name. This young man really play some football. With a new coach in place and some kinks to iron out for the Wildcats, expect another great season for the green and gold. Brisco will be a major part of it and he will be counted on to deliver. I'm really excited to see what the Wildcats do this fall; they will be good, as always!
TED GILMORE- CORONADO HIGH SCHOOL
CLASS OF 2023 DB/ATH

They call him "Boss Man Ted" and he will lay a lick on you in the backfield. Coronado has an elite defense this season and some of the top defensive prospects in the state back there with players like John Curry, Cam Manahan and Ted Gilmore. The Mustangs will rely on their defense early until their offense rounds into form. It should be another great season for Coach DJ Mann and the "OHANA" gang.
TRAVON MCCASLIN-LORENZO HIGH SCHOOL
CLASS OF 2023 QB

Travon had a great season for Tulia's Hornets in 2021 as he accumulated over 3,200 total yards and 3o touchdowns through the air and led the way as the Hornets had the biggest upset in the state with their win over Canadian in district play. This season, the winds have blown in change as Travon is now at Lorenzo and will take a swing at six-man football for their Hornets! He will do great for his new team as he is a class act; on and off the field! Stay tuned!
JAKE SOLIZ- OLTON MUSTANGS
CLASS OF 2023 WR/CB

We went out and watched Jake Soliz last year and he had three interceptions and a couple of receiving touchdowns against Hale Center for the Mustangs and he is going to have another huge season in 2022 for Olton! I expect big things from Jake in his Senior season and Olton will definitely maximize from his talents on the gridiron!
There are a ton of players that need to have an eye on them and I will get to them all!
