THETFORD UP TO THE CHALLENGE OF LEADING A YOUNG GROUP OF ANTELOPES

As we all know, the Post Antelopes have been a fixture in the playoffs the last few years including two Regional Round defeats in close games. With players like AJ Reed, Michael Phergson, Octavius Jackson and more in the fold the past few years, Post has always had a lot of leadership every season. This year, it may be different leadership-wise due to all of the Seniors that graduated this year. When I caught up with Coach Pittman he stated that the offense will center around their returning Quarterback, Taytem Thetford. Taytem blossomed last year as he learned the ropes from a great coaching staff and led the Antelopes to the Regional Round again. And even though they lost, the experience was great for Taytem and will pay big benefits for this season and beyond. I caught up with Taytem and asked him about last season, this season, and the summer work he’s been doing for 2018. Here is our interview below.

1. Last season, you guys finally found your stride towards the end of the season, what game in your mind turned your season around?

TAYTEM THETFORD

I think that our last district game against Anson gave us that confidence booster we needed for playoffs. It was a big win for us.

2. What have you been doing this summer to come back even better than you were last season?

TAYTEM THETFORD

I’ve been putting in lots of work in the weight room and attending summer workouts. 7-on-7 has also helped me try and get our pass game going next season.

3. Favorite football player and why?

TAYTEM THETFORD

Dak Prescott because I can relate to him. He came to Dallas as the 2nd string then ended up taking over and being a leader.

4. Now seeing your new district, what team are you most excited to play in your district?

TAYTEM THETFORD

I would have to say Olton because I used to go to school there and it will be fun to play against them.

TAYTEM THETFORD

I think that it begins this summer with trying to get all the young ones in the weight room and trying to guide them in the right direction for success.
