BLAYLOCK’S EXCEPTIONAL BBALL SEASON HAS DI SCHOOLS COMING FOR FOOTBALL..

DK Blaylock has been on a roller coaster year..let me explain: From transferring from Estacado to New Deal last year, to now holding four major Division One offers in football; admittedly a sport that Dk didn’t see himself going DI in because he is so good at basketball! But as things change, things remain the same in his life as well. I asked Blaylock at the All-806 photoshoot what was he going to do now that all these offers are coming in football, knowing he loves basketball. He told me he was going to pursue football with the new opportunities he has been blessed to receive, but believe me when I say this: Dk is one of the best basketball players in the 806..PERIOD! I caught up with DK and asked him about his season, along with his football offers and being the only 806 player to represent the football players at the UA ALL-AMERICA CAMP on April 8th. Here is our interview  below!

JASON PEARSON

1. What a year this has been for you; from not being able to play last year as a transfer, to now holding 4 DI offers for football. And also a hell of a basketball player! What did U work on all year when you had to sit out?

DK BLAYLOCK
I really just worked on getting stronger and faster. Nobody understood the fire I had built in me when I was ruled ineligible, so through the time I tried working as hard as I possibly could just to show everyone I’m not letting one bad obstacle stop me; God knew what he was doing and the outcome backs that up real well.
JASON PEARSON
2. When you decided to play football, what were your goals for the season
DK BLAYLOCK
My goals going in was just to get back use to playing football and getting the feeling and love I had for it when I was little. Nobody knows but I have always played football and I just wanted to get back used to being on the field and transitioning from basketball to football.
JASON PEARSON
3. When you went out for basketball, how did it feel to finally play after waiting so long?
DK BLAYLOCK
It was crazy Man. I was so anxious to get back on the court and play! I remember the 2nd day football was over and I was ready to go to school just to start basketball already.
JASON PEARSON
4. Best game you had last year? FOOTBALL AND BASKETBALL
DK BLAYLOCK
The best football game I had has to be that Sunray one; I had some big catches and also multiple touchdowns that helped us out a whole lot …. Best basketball game has to be the 2nd round of Caprock when I dropped 45 on All Saints , even though we lost it was really fun playing against those guys and also in front of family.
JASON PEARSON
5. Best opponent you went against?
DK BLAYLOCK
Best opponent last year was Chris Wilson out of Caprock; my boy a dog!
JASON PEARSON
6. Favorite NBA Player and why?
DK BLAYLOCK
Kobe is my favorite NBA player,  just the killer mentality he had when he was on the court; he always felt like he was the best on the court no matter who he played and also he played every game like it was his last even if it was a bad game he would always give 110%, no matter what.
JASON PEARSON
7. When you got the call for your first DI offer, how did your family react?
DK BLAYLOCK
Tears of joy man, it felt so good just to know my schooling is paid for and my mom don’t have to stress anymore about getting me to college anymore, it’s just a blessing man.
JASON PEARSON
8. Now that you’re on the radar what are you doing to get better for the 2018 season?
DK BLAYLOCK
Work, work, and work. A lot of people been doubting me and also hating but just don’t know the work I have been putting in while nobody’s watching. Everyday I find a way to get better; whether it’s weights, training with my cardio or  footwork; I always try to find ways to improve my game.
JASON PEARSON
9. How was your experience at the UA Camp, being the only 806 player to attend?
DK BLAYLOCK
It was a big honor. When I got there and was going through drills and I could see so much improvement in everything from catching, to footwork and  route running. I could see improvement in everything and from going to basketball to football I wasn’t used to seeing hard work paying off but in football I, and many others saw it this week in Dallas.
JASON PEARSON
10. The football game you’re most excited to play in next year in football and basketball?
DK BLAYLOCK
Football has to be that Post game; that’s gonna be a huge game for us next year since Abernathy not in the district and it’s always a blast playing them Basketball; I haven’t really saw our schedule so I’m looking forward to that game.
JASON PEARSON
11. Finish the sentence.. I will… in order to be better in and off the field next year.
DK BLAYLOCK
I will continue to work as hard as I possibly can In order to be better on, and off the field next year.
