RECTOR ENDS SENIOR SEASON WITH A BANG AS AN ALL-STATE PLAYER FOR THE MATS’

What a season Bryan Rector had! He waited his turn for a couple of years at Estacado and when he got his turn this year, he thrived in every situation he was put against in leading the Matadors to a 1-4A District Title and run to the Regional Tournament in 4A as well! If he is open, book it, but he also has a slick inside game along with a calming demeanor for Tony Wagner’s squad. I caught with Bryan and asked him about his great Season, his awards, and what he will miss most about the E! Here is Bryan Rector’s All-806 interview below!

JASON PEARSON

1. Tradition never graduates.. What does that mean to you?

BRYAN RECTOR

Means every new class that comes in has the same expectations. As every class that has came before them, nothing less.

JASON PEARSON

2. Being the best program in basketball as far as Lubbock goes, does that add to the pressure every year when you put that blue on?

BRYAN RECTOR

No sir. We already relieve the pressure in summer ball and off season, so we know where we stand.

JASON PEARSON

3. How did you manage to find your nitch in an offense hat had multiple players that could go off at any time?

BRYAN RECTOR

Our team knew each other so well that we knew who to feed each night. So with everyone being a threat it relieved some pressure and opened it up for me.

JASON PEARSON

4. Best NBA Player and why?

BRYAN RECTOR

All time favorite Kobe Bryant, because of his emotion and passion for the game. He gave it his all every night. But current NBA player is James Harden, because my peers compare me to him, and I try to imitate him sometimes.

JASON PEARSON

5. Best game you played in on your entire career.

BRYAN RECTOR

It was actually a loss, my Junior year against Brownfield. It was the best atmosphere I’ve ever played in. Shoutout to the pit!

JASON PEARSON

6. Toughest player you played against this season?

BRYAN RECTOR

This season shout out to my boy Jalen Brittain from Seminole, because his athleticism and size for a sophomore is crazy! And last year Jarrett Culver; he’s balling at the next level and I enjoyed guarding him. I Know he scored al ot but it was a matchup that made me better for this season!

JASON PEARSON

7. What was you favorite play or moment at Estacado?

BRYAN RECTOR

It was a 4-point play against Lubbock High last year and it was my first one ever so yea, and shoutout Kobe McQueen for the assist… I’ll never forget that play.

JASON PEARSON

8. If I’m a 8th-grader heading to Estacado to play basketball, what advice would you give them to succeed on and off the court?

BRYAN RECTOR

Your toughness will get you playing time, no matter how talented you are. So if you want to play varsity right away be coachable and compete.

JASON PEARSON

9. Being picked to play in the TABC All-Star game.. How does that feel to represent the entire 806 this summer?

BRYAN RECTOR

Man, It’s a blessing I never thought I’d be an All Star. And I’m going to compete and hopefully bring home the MVP award!

JASON PEARSON

10. As you prepare to play next level balll for sure, what are you going to work on to get Better than you are now?( Even though you already great!)

BRYAN RECTOR

Thanks, but mainly focusing on getting stronger so I can go in to college and not have to sit out a year and make an impact right away.

JASON PEARSON

11.Best thing Coach Wagner has told you over your career..

“The difference between Champ and Chump is U” So basically it’s saying it’s up to you if you’re gonna be great and it’s something I’ll always remember.

Bryan is on his way, and whichever college grabs him, they’ll be getting a leader..with a deadly jumper from 25 feet in!!
