Don’t get me wrong, there are some kids that can play all over the 806 at many different levels! Honestly, being asked to continue your childhood dream of football for four more years is a blessing coming from any college! So after an entire season, a season that is still going for some teams, here are the top twenty prospects we see that could play elite Division One Football right now that all coaches and recruits should have their eye on.
#1 JARON JONES- QB MONTEREY PLAINSMEN
Just when you thought that Jaron was not going to impress against the fourth-ranked Ryan Raiders, he did; and did it emphatically with three total touchdowns including a 62-yard run that electrified the crowd at Shotwell stadium in Abilene. This young man has the speed and skill set that should net him a big time offer…He earned it.
#2. JASON FLOREZ- WR/CB MULESHOE MULESNow, I know Jason very well. He is a great young man with very high character but his Offensive Coordinator, Wes Wood, couldn’t have said it better.
Jason Florez (Muleshoe High School, Receiver)
ACT: 21 GPA: 2.98
He( Jason Florez) has the “it” factor along with every other attribute you want. I will never feel more strongly about getting a kid a recruited to a good school than I do about Jason. He is such a blessing to us, and it would be a big blessing to him, but more importantly, he will be such a blessing to whatever program he ends up at. We always talk that we might get another kid with his attitude, and we might get another kid with his character, and we might get another kid with his talent, but we may never find another one that has it all like him. Yes he is a smaller kid at 5′ 10″ 155 lbs, but he will not disappoint. And he is definitely going to put on weight. He started on varsity since he was a sophomore, and was also one of our team captains.
Coachabilty: 10/10 Competitiveness: 10/10 Character: 10/10 Drive: 10/10 Humbleness: 10/10 Loyalty: 10/10 Morals: 10/10 Athleticism: 10/10 Intelligence: 10/10 Integrity: 10/10 Work Ethic: 10/10 Heart: 10/10
These were his 2015 Sr. Season Stats (13 Games):
99 Receptions for 1857 yards
27 TD receptions
15 carries for 159 yards (10.6 yds/car) 1 TD
6 Interceptions (1 returned for a TD)
2014 First Team All-District Receiver (unanimous)
2014 Second Team All-State Receiver
2015 First Team All-District Receiver (unanimous)
2015 First Team All-District Defensive Back (unanimous)
2015 All-State Honors Pending…
Coach Wes Wood
Now, who wouldn’t want that young man on their team??
#3 SETH WOOD- ILB CORONADO MUSTANGS
#4 NICK GERBER- QB LEVELLAND LOBOS
317 completions in 481 attempts. A Texas High School Record 76 touchdown passes. Oh yea…Only five interceptions! He is the best quarterback in the 806 by far. A special talent that could play any sport he wanted to, Nick has really excelled in his Senior year on the football field and still is on one of the five teams left in the 806 that are still playing in December. Humble, smart, and coachable. That’s all you could ask for if he was on your team. Doesn’t hurt that he has a deadly accurate arm with some speed behind it. Coach Norman and Coach Sanderson have really developed one of the best quarterbacks, if not the best quarterback Texas has ever seen at the High School Level. Remember, Johnny Manziel, Drew Brees, Ryan Tannehill, Matthew Stafford, and Andrew Luck played Texas High School football and haven’t done what he has this season…
#5 JARROD COMPTON- RB CORONADO MUSTANGS
197 Carries for 1332 yards and 16 total touchdowns in his Junior Year for Coach Parr’s Mustangs. He showed up when it counted; in the playoffs as he scored multiple touchdowns in every game including his three scores in the Coronado’s comeback against Caprock that field their run to the third round of the postseason. He runs between the tackles and you won’t take Compton down with an arm tackle. He also takes ball security very serious and doesn’t turn the ball over at all. He, along with Qua gray will have stellar Senior seasons for Coronado and will be playing on Saturdays for sure!
TOMORROW WE WILL HAVE PLAYERS 5-10 OUT OF OUR TOP 20 PROSPECTS IN THE 806: POSTSEASON.
