In a season that was already full of expectations, the Mustangs achieved their ultimate goal; to represent the 806 at the state semifinal at Dell Diamond Park with a chance to go after a state title in baseball. Can we harken back to last year, when Littlefield knocked the Mustangs out of the 3A Regional Final Playoffs at Rip Griffin Park on Texas Tech’s Campus, they could’ve folded. They didn’t, and used that series loss to fuel a dangerous run to the 3A state semifinals which take place tomorrow at 7:00pm against the State Champions from last year, West.IMG_2150

Ryan Kotulek, the Abilene Christian Commit, has really came into his own this year including a nine-strikeout performance against Alpine in where he also pitched a complete game to boot. How about their series before Alpine? The fortitude Shallowater showed in a 13-12 series clinching win over Jim Ned in where they were down 12-8 in the bottom of the eighth after the Indians hit 3 home runs in the top of the inning. Heart, guts, determination, togetherness, and the will has led them to this point, and don’t be surprised to see Shallowater bring the title back home to the 806.

Here is how they got there.

Tulia (11-0, 11-1)

Brownfield (2-0,10-2)

Denver City (6-0, 8-3)

Jim Ned (5-1, 0-9, 13-12)

Alpine (10-0, 7-3)
